Ahmed Miah

Before being called to the Bar, he worked as a Law Lecturer teaching Contract and Business law, Torts, European Law and Public International Law to undergraduates at London Guildhall University. He has also spent significant periods of time working with firms of solicitors and understands the pressures of operating in a fast paced legal office environment.

Mr Miah is regularly instructed to represent clients in a broad range of civil disputes and proceedings before the civil courts and tribunals. His day to day practice usually involves giving advice and assistance, drafting documents and appearing in Court. He appears regularly in the County Courts in proceedings relating to contractual claims, insurance claims, landlord and tenant matters, partnership disputes, personal injury, family law, injunctions, road traffic accidents, appeals against fines, and committal proceedings. Ahmed also appears in the Employment Tribunals as well as the Immigration Tribunals.

Mr Miah has also been involved in proceedings in the High Court. He is often asked to appear at hearings, draft Judicial Review grounds and to seek injunctions. He has been involved in bitter litigation between financial insititutions and their employees for whom he has successfully acted. More recently Ahmed has also helped clients in insolvency matters including bankruptcy petitions and liquidation actions brought by shareholders.

Mr Miah vigorously pursues cases which appear not to have correctly been dealt with in the lower courts, and has successfully handled appeals to the Court of Appeal on a number of human rights related cases. In one case of interest Ahmed was asked to provide his expertise on the bringing of an application to the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.
